Santana & Steve Winwood

Steve Winwood is a multi-instrumentalist, who has performed with almost every major blues artist of the past half century. When he was 14, Winwood joined the Spencer Davis Group. During his time with the Spencer Davis Group, he co-wrote two of the bands biggest hits Gimme Some Loving and I’m A Man. After four years with Spencer Davis, Winwood left the bad to form Traffic. Traffic was an English psychedelic-rock band that would not continue on to produce many hit songs in America.
In 1967, Winwood would leave Traffic to form the super group Blind Faith, alongside Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker and Ric Grech. Blind Faith would be short lived due to Eric Clapton leaving the band. Traffic reformed in 1970 and would last about four years until artistic differences would break them up, once again. At this time, Winwood decided to focus on a solo career.
In 1986, he would release the album Back in the High Life. The album was a critical and financial success and included hit songs Higher Love, and Back in the High Life Again. In recent years, Winwood has done work with young artists such as Christina Aguilera and has been touring with his old friend Eric Clapton.

Ten years after gaining a newfound success with the release of Supernatural, Santana is at it again with a re-release of the album and a world tour. The band Santana is made up of Carlos Santana and the constantly changing musicians that surround him on stage. Santana performed at the Woodstock Music Festival in 1969, as a little known band that had been around for only three years. The band performed a memorable set that included an eleven minute version of their song “Soul Sacrifice”. This version of the song was released as part of the documentary “Woodstock”. A few weeks following the festival, Santana was signed to Columbia Records. Since then, Santana’s career has covered four decades, a countless number of album sales, an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and 13 Grammy Awards.
